Thermal Printer Calibration: Darkness, Speed, and Proofing Discipline

Thermal printers fail barcode quality most often through over-darkness, feed-speed mismatches, and neglected cleaning. Calibration is less about a magic setting than about repeatable proofing after every meaningful process change.

1. Clean the head and rollers.
2. Print a proof ladder at multiple darkness levels.
3. Validate the chosen setting with the target scanner or verifier.
4. Lock the profile by stock and use case.
